The history of the unique Black Taxi service in West and North Belfast is one of the most fascinating stories that have come out of the troubles in Northern Ireland.
Born out of the need to create its own public transport service, the community developed a service that is an integral part of Belfasts city transport infrastructure.

In its infancy it provided employment opportunities for those that unfortunately could not find work outside their own community. Many of the first service providers were ex-internees or former IRA prisoners.
Lucia Chisholm aims to explore the history associated with the West Belfast Taxi Association, formerly the Falls Taxi Association, its current service provision, involvment with the community and links with tourism development.
